Rob Merkwitza and Michael van Rooyen join Orro leadership team to drive business capability and strategic offering for customers

SYDNEY – Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, today announced two new executive appointments, bolstering the company’s leadership team. The appointments come as Orro continues its growth strategy in pursuit of faster, safer, and simpler managed services solutions across Australia.

Following the acquisition of long-standing security partner RIOT Solutions in May 2022, Orro has appointed RIOT CEO Rob Merkwitza as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at Orro. In the CSO role, Merkwitza will develop Orro’s growth strategy in collaboration with Orro CEO, Rodd Cunico and COO, Daniel Greengarten. Merkwitza will be responsible for driving collaboration across the businesses’ product and services portfolio, incorporating cyber security, marketing, technology, and product management functions. Working with the senior leadership team, Merkwitza will align Orro’s go-to-market strategy to support growth opportunities.

Orro has also appointed former RIOT Solutions Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Michael van Rooyen, as CTO of Networks at Orro. With outstanding knowledge and expertise in network design and technology, van Rooyen will drive the progress of the company’s technology offering. Encouraging innovative solutions across all areas of the business, van Rooyen will play a critical role in driving Orro’s technology roadmap in 2023.

Rodd Cunico, CEO at Orro said: “We have seen the heightened demand for secure network solutions rise, and the appointments of Rob Merkwitza and Michael van Rooyen will ensure  Orro delivers the right solutions to the Australian market.”

“The restructure comes with great opportunities for Orro, as we align our capabilities to the needs of our customers, both now and in the future. The strategic leadership from both Rob and Michael will be a big step forward for Orro, enabling our sustainable growth across the IT sector,” Mr Cunico said.

On the new appointment, Merkwitza said: “At Orro, we have a significant opportunity to bring together our key capabilities across the group to deliver true end-to-end managed services solutions to our customers. Our breadth and depth model means a partnership with Orro delivers expertise across cyber security, network and cloud services.”

“As digital transformation continues to accelerate, the rapid growth of critical infrastructure, and the significant increase in cyber security threats means a true managed service provider needs to have the capabilities to apply a number of disciplines within the services it offers. This is one of the main reasons we offer cyber security within our portfolio and position it specifically under the strategy office.”
