Orro celebrates Women in Technology this International Women’s Day

Women in Technology
International Women’s Day is an opportunity for us to consider the contribution of the Australian technology industry to gender equality, and to consider what further challenges lay ahead.

This International Women’s Day, Orro is proud to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Women in Technology across our national offices.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year, under the theme #BreakTheBias, we gathered our teams to reflect on the progress made toward gender equality and the work that remains to empower more Women in Technology.

To mark the occasion, Orro hosted breakfast events across our offices. In Brisbane, our team enjoyed a morning of networking and discussion, while our Sydney office joined together to hear from leaders about their career journeys. These events provide a vital space for the Women in Technology at Orro to share their experiences and support one another in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Breaking the Bias in the Modern Workplace

The #BreakTheBias theme is particularly relevant for Women in Technology. Whether it’s in the boardroom or the server room, challenging stereotypes and discrimination is essential to building a more inclusive future. According to the International Women’s Day official organisation, a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination is one where difference is valued and celebrated.

Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Technology

Our commitment to diversity goes beyond a single day of celebration. We are focused on creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. By highlighting the achievements of our female colleagues, we hope to inspire more Women in Technology to pursue leadership roles and technical specialisations.

“It is so important to see women represented at all levels of the organisation,” says one of our Brisbane-based team members. “IWD is a great reminder that the contributions of Women in Technology are essential to our success as a company.”

What Does Good Cyber Intelligence Look Like at Board Level?

Most boards are not being shown what they need to govern cyber risk. They receive compliance status updates, patch completion rates, incident tallies, and tool deployment summaries – metrics that confirm activity is occurring, not that the organisation is actually becoming safer.
