Rachel Sands to lead people and talent strategy for newly launched Orro

Orro, a platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, has today announced the appointment of Rachel Sands as Chief People Officer (CPO).

The appointment follows the launch of the new Orro brand in July 2021, bringing together four leading Australian technology companies into its business: networking leader Comscentre, IT services company CustomTec, managed IT services business Correct Solutions and open-source pioneers Mach Technology Group.

As Orro’s Chief People Officer, Rachel’s responsibilities will include bringing together the people strategy, frameworks and initiatives from all four companies within the group to create a consolidated HR strategy and practice.

Rachel brings a wealth of experience to this newly created role. After a successful career in management consulting at Ernst & Young in the US and Japan, Rachel has held senior HR roles in Australia for the past 15 years, including at leading financial institutions, National Australia Bank and MLC Australia, and has run her own HR consulting business.

Rachel has spent the first few weeks at Orro listening to employees, to allow everyone to provide input into the new Orro culture, and to understand what works at each of the companies, which will help create a consolidated HR framework and practice for the group.

Commenting on the appointment, Orro Chief Executive Officer, Rodd Cunico, says:

“Orro was created after the successful integration of four different companies – and the decision to bring these companies together was not only based on capability and skills, but more importantly on cultural fit. Our people are central to Orro’s success and we couldn’t be happier to have Rachel on board to help us bring to life the Orro culture, a consolidated HR framework and talent strategy as we continue to grow our teams over the next few months.”

Commenting on her appointment, Sands says:

“Orro has brought together four companies with close cultures in one place. I look forward to leveraging their strengths as we create one united Orro team formed with our new shared values. It is also an opportunity to build on HR best practice and ensure Orro is an employer of choice. I am passionate about people, leadership and growing successful businesses, and I am delighted to have joined Orro at such an exciting time for the company and the industry. We have the opportunity to create something really great.

Sands joins the Orro Group leadership team alongside Cunico, Chief Operating Officer Daniel Greengarten, Chief Financial Officer Fabian Kuehn and Chief Marketing Officer Stuart Myerscough.
